Valuation/Audit Technician
Buckberger Baerg & Partners LLP is currently seeking an experienced Valuation/Audit Technician to become an integral part of our team.
Summary
The Valuation/Audit Technician plays a crucial role in supporting our Valuation and Audit services team. This position requires a combination of financial analysis, research, organization, and communication skills to assist in providing accurate and insightful work products for our clients across various industries. You will collaborate closely with senior team members and utilize your expertise to contribute to the success of our engagements.
Education and Experience
- Accounting designation, Accounting diploma or equivalent experience
- 0-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a public accounting firm or financial advisory setting would be considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word
- Background in financial cash flow modeling, valuation techniques, and Canadian accounting principles is an asset

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This job description does not deal with every situation that may arise during employment. It is intended to reflect the core responsibilities and tasks of employment with the Firm.
Detailed duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the preparation of all aspects of valuation and audit engagements from planning to completion, independently and as part of a team. This includes the preparation of various working papers within each engagement. Within each engagement, the duties would include, but not be limited to:
Financial Analysis:
- Assist in conducting in-depth financial analyses using various valuation methodologies.
- Gather and interpret financial data from client-provided documents, public sources, and industry databases to assess the value of businesses, assets, or liabilities.
Market Research:
- Perform research on industry trends, market conditions, and comparable transactions to support valuation assumptions and methodologies.
- Stay updated on relevant economic indicators, regulatory changes, and market developments that may impact the valuation process.
Audit Support:
- Support the audit team by performing procedures related to reviewing and analyzing financial statements, contracts, agreements, and other relevant documents.
- Perform math checks of client and internally prepared documents.
- Provide support in gathering and organizing sample data, performing analytical procedures, and documenting audit findings.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain files for each valuation engagement, including client correspondence, workpapers, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with document retention policies and procedures, including archiving and storing electronic and physical records.
- Assist in scheduling meetings, client calls, and internal discussions for the valuation team.
- Coordinate logistics for valuation engagements, compiling and follow-up on information requests, arranging conference rooms, and preparing meeting materials.
- Update and maintain the firm’s databases or information management systems with relevant client data, engagement details, and project milestones.
- Monitoring and managing engagements efficiently and effectively by meeting budget and reporting deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with Valuation and Audit team members, participate in team meetings, discussions, and training sessions to share insights, exchange best practices, and enhance technical skills.
